Since President Trump took office, all immigrants, whether here legally or not, are terrified of ICE showing up and arresting them. Kids in school are terrified. Parents are terrified. ICE agents intimidate, interrogate, and they arrest.
But most immigrants are not criminals. And all people in Arizona, and across the US, have certain rights and protections under the US Constitution, regardless of their immigration status. That is why Stand Indivisible AZ is providing Red “Know Your Rights” Cards to immigrants in our community so they can protect themselves if ICE approaches them at home, school, work, or elsewhere.
Red cards tell immigrants what their rights are, such as the right to remain silent, and the right to refuse entry to a home unless the agent has a warrant. Red Cards were created nearly 20 years ago by a legal aid group, but are in particularly high demand right now. Stand Indivisible has printed thousands of Red Cards, and we need your help to get them distributed to the people who need them.
Our aim is to reach the immigrant community where they are...at school, work, places of worship, clinics, etc. If you or someone you know is in contact with the immigrant community, you could play an invaluable role in helping us distribute the Red Cards to those who need them.
If you would like to help, please join us and pick up a packet of Red Cards to distribute to your contacts. We'll be at the Coffee Plantation, 7366 E. Shea Blvd #101 in the Village at Shea (the northeast corner of Shea Blvd and Scottsdale Road) Monday and Tuesday March 10 and 11th, and Friday, March 21. Pick up times are as follows:
Monday, March 10 between 3 to 5 pm
Tuesday, March 11 from 11 am to 1 pm
Friday, March 21 from 3:30 to 5 pm
