Resist: Georgia Pacific (Koch Industries)

Updated: 7 days ago

Charles Koch is one of the Koch Brothers and son of Fred C. Koch, a founding member of the John Birch Society. Today, Charles is CEO and Co-Founder of Koch Industries, and among the richest people in America.

Koch Industries is a large private conglomerate with 12 subsidiaries, including Georgia Pacific. Georgia Pacific brands include paper products sold in thousands of stores across the country under these names:

Major Georgia Pacific Brands:

  • Angel Soft

  • Brawny

  • Dixie

  • Quilted Northern

  • Sparkle

  • Vanity Fair

Why we’re picking on Koch Industries:

Along with his late brother David Koch, Charles Koch became famous for his financial and political influence in US politics with a libertarian political stance.

From around 2004 to 2019, the brothers organized like-minded wealthy libertarian-oriented conservatives, and spent hundreds of millions of dollars of their own money to build a "stealth" network of think tanks, foundations, and academic programs to reshape public opinion to favor minimal government. Though they identify most closely with libertarianism, they have poured millions of dollars into Republican candidates and causes.

Among the conservative and libertarian think-tanks they actively support are the American Enterprise Institute and the Heritage Foundation, a right-wing think tank that has engaged in climate change denial and obstruction for decades, and were advisors and authors of Project 2025.
